Castellammare is part of the unincorporated municipality of Pacific Palisades. Nestled between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean and residing next to the LA County Line, the community is the last stop for City services, such as law enforcement, and is therefore dramatically underserved.

The location is further burdened by having only two points of entry: one near the Topanga State Park off Sunset Blvd. and another directly off Pacific Coast Highway. Together, they make an ‘easy in - easy out’ escape route for criminals. With the nearest police station 45 minutes away and only one patrol car dedicated to the 22 square miles of Pacific Palisades, most follow-ups by police are handled a day or more after a crime has been committed.

CSC is mitigating crime with the installation license plate reading cameras and video surveillance. Neighbors participate in sharing information on speeding cars, autos cruising the streets with headlights off and other details that are fed into the security system to identify suspicious vehicles and warn when/if those vehicles return. The data provides police with concrete video footage and license plate information when incidences arise. As of October 2020, and with only 1/3 of the neighborhood solicited, approximately $22,000 in donations has been received for the Security Camera Initiative.

Our goal is to attain 75% participation so that we can afford to link more residential street-facing cameras into our Ivideon multi-channel viewer to enable the sharing of data on everything from stolen vehicles, porch bandits, malicious destruction of property to suspicious solicitors and tresspassers. CSC also provides a private neighborhood security app called Wissle (www.wissle.com), an electronic phone tree to be used by residents to simultaneously send alerts  via email, text and phone to a selected group of nextdoor neighbors or to the entire community about a crime, fire, medical emergency, suspicious solicitor, lost pet, etc. There is strength in numbers and it is comforting to know that in times of need, your neighbors an become the first responders.

Thank You For Your Contributions

Castellammare Security Committee is all about neighbors helping to make their community safer and more secure for everyone. Your contributions are critical to the sustainability of measures you and other residents have chosen as important to the well-being of your family and property.

While Contributing Members typically donate $200 and Gold Circle Members give $500, CSC recognizes the economic diversity of Castellammare and is grateful for whatever amount you wish to contribute.

Current Initiatives include BRUSH CLEARANCE and SECURITY CAMERAS. You may direct your donation to whichever initiative you wish to support. Alternatively, you may contribute to the GENERAL FUND, where donations are distributed equally among the initiatives. Thank you again for supporting the safety and security of our neighborhood.
